About Me

A little bit about me.  

I am a mom who is trying my best to "keep it real" with my kids.  I keep it real with my friends and family.  It took a long time to realize that trying to be perfect is no way to live and it isn't any fun either.  I am imperfect!!   Just saying it is so liberating, it allows me to focus more on the here and now instead of wasting time beating myself up for things that didn't go right.   It isn't that I don't try to do things well, I just have realized that I am much harder on myself than anyone else is.  I make mistakes, but everything I do, I do because I feel it is right at that moment in time.   

I was born and raised just outside of Boston, MA in the city of Somerville.   I am the oldest of 3 children.  My mother raised us 3 kids on her own since I was 9 when my parents divorced.   I respect the way they parted because they did love one another but just couldn't live together.  I have a sister who is 2 years younger than I and a brother who came along when I was 14.   I love them both dearly and since we all live in different parts of the country we don't get to see one another much.   

I was a single parent to my oldest daughter until she was about 6 and then I met and married someone who I thought was the right one, but ended up not being the right one.   I hung in there for almost 9 years with him and we had 2 more children together, a son and a daughter.

I married my husband J.R. in 2011, we were together for 2 years before we married.  He is my soul mate, I know that sounds corny but he really is!!  We have a mutual respect for one another.  I believe it is enhanced by the fact that we were both in crappy marriages before we got together.   I have never known what it felt like to be loved, and to love with every ounce of your being.   I have this with him and it is something I wish every person in the world could experience.   
   
I am a stay at home mom and have been since 2010 when I had back surgery and still to this day in 2014 I still do physical therapy to help strengthen my back in order to have as normal and active a life as I can.   My husband and kids are so supportive and helpful and I don't know where I would be without them.  

So I guess that is me in a nutshell, like I have said I cuss, I drink occasionally, I love to laugh and can be sarcastic sometimes too.   I like more to stay home and have a glass of wine with friends over than going out to bars or restaurants.  I love to cook and to entertain.  We live in a small town in Iowa and love the house we live in.  We have both said that even though we live "in town" we feel as if we are in our own little world and we wouldn't trade that for anything!!
